A Look at Changes to OSU Football Roster Since Spring Practice

Roster turnover is something the coaching staff has to deal with ever year. This year’s official roster has been released ahead of fall camp. There were some noteworthy additions and a few names who took part in spring ball missing from the official list.
Here’s a look at the apparent departures based on OSU’s roster.
Name | Number | Position |
---|---|---|
Winston Westbrooks | 27 | Safety |
Mitchell Perkinson | 30 | Wide Receiver |
Jakeem Johnson | 35 | Running Back |
Reshawn Parker | 46 | Linebacker |
Brian Ciszewski | 47 | Linebacker |
Obi Obialo | 88 | Wide Receiver |
Obialo announced his transfer from the program earlier this year. No official word on running back Jakeem Johnson but with the influx of talent and the competition that already existed on the roster, Johnson would find it an uphill battle see the field. He contributed on the scout team the last two seasons.
There were also several additions to the roster since the spring, most we already knew about. For a breakdown of number changes, we’ve got you covered as well.
Here are the new names on the roster since spring ball. Note this does not include names like Jelani Woods and Patrick Macon who enrolled in the spring and have been with the team since then.

Tracin Wallace | 4 | Quarterback |
Adrian Baker | 6 | Cornerback |
Braydon Johnson | 8 | Wide Receiver |
Malcolm Rodriguez | 20 | Safety |

J.D. King | 27 | Running Back |
Thabo Mwaniki | 28 | Safety |

Tylan Wallace | 80 | Wide Receiver |

The big names are there. Incoming freshmen like Chuba Hubbard and Tylan Wallace have already been penciled in as future stars by many. Then there are transfers like Adrian Baker and Aaron Cochran who look to make an immediate impact to OSU’s potential Big 12 title run in 2017.
Larry Joubert was the final addition to this year’s class. He adds more depth to the offensive line by way of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and will probably play at either guard position.
