Three Thoughts

• When you’ve got the nation’s best running back (or at minimum, the most productive), you tend to overlook what could be the nation’s best wide receiver.

If (Tylan) Wallace is fully healthy, he could be not only the best receiver in the Big 12 but nationally. He’s that good and if everything checks out, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the first- or second-round discussion for the NFL Draft. [Rivals]

• One of the biggest differences with this Cowboy Basketball team (outside of the No. 1 overall prospect) is the plethora of guard talent – just look at this crew of options with the news of Bryce Williams’ immediate eligibility today:

Williams, a senior, adds to a Cowboy backcourt stuffed with talent with Cade Cunningham, Isaac Likekele, Avery Anderson, Chris Harris, Ferron Flavors, Rondel Walker and Donovan Williams all ready to go.

Bryce Williams’ 3-point shot will likely be his biggest attribute on the offensive end of the floor with Cunningham and Likekele excelling when driving and kicking. [PFB]

Also – be on the lookout for Mike Boynton to potentially add his first NYC guy today as this combo guard is expected to announce his decision between the Pokes, Hoyas, and Dayton.

If/when/if the Big 12 season gets delayed for COVID, could they pivot to a winter season like the Big Ten teams are considering?

Indoor stadiums in the Big 12 footprint(ish): AT&T Stadium and the Star (Dallas), NRG Stadium (Texans), Alamodome, the dome in St. Louis… The Kansas teams and Iowa State would probably be head over heels to play at Arrowhead Stadium (regardless of how cold it is). I don’t think it’s as essential to play indoors in the Big 12 footprint compared to the Big Ten either.

Two Quotes

• The owner of the Dallas Cowboys is raving about the work of Blake Jarwin during their fall camp:

“Certainly [Jarwin is] getting to spread his wings now, whether it’s Coach McCarthy, the offensive staff, his teammates, he keeps showing up out there. … He’s just — he’s really coming in to his own, and nothing would surprise me with him in terms of what his production could be this year. He just keeps getting better.  [CBS Sports]

• OSU has added a few corners over the years (Kemah Siverand, Lenzy Pipkins, and Tyler Patmon come to mind). Mizzou grad transfer Christian Holmes notes what brought him to OSU from the SEC:

“My mind was made up of what I wanted to prove to myself to get more tape of my ability,” Holmes said. “The ball is thrown around a lot in the Big 12. I came here…” [PFB]

One Question

• Which would you guess is more likely over the next five years: that Mike Gundy wins another Big 12 championship or that Mike Boynton takes the Pokes to the Elite Eight?

Most Viewed of the Week

• No. 1: OSU adds Washington State receiver Tay Martin via transfer

• No. 2: Mike Gundy’s buyout was reduced by around $10M

• No. 3: Looking at the 5-7 freshman that may play in 2020

• No. 4: Mike Holder updated fans via email on the ticketing situation

• No. 5: NCAA announces fall sports won’t count against athlete’s eligibility
