The Happiest Place on Earth

Bowls are an incredible thing: a hundred college kids running around top tourist destinations for a week.

And there’s Disney (and Universal, too). Who doesn’t love some Mickey, or the princesses? Or Harry Potter? Maybe a postseason detour from this part of the country will be nice, as the Cowboys haven’t been to a Florida bowl since the mid-80s. Some fun and sun following a bit of a disappointing season.

“I don’t see our season as a disappointment,” Gundy said. “I know we all want to make the final four. Winning nine games is difficult. I think the people will be excited about being there. I think they’ll be excited about a location where there’s a lot to do. I would be surprised if we didn’t have as much of a fan following as we did a few years ago in Phoenix.” [Go Pokes]

Sign me up for Gundy with Disney Princesses and the Ramon at Harry Potter World pics.

Also, if the athletic department wants to send the PFB squad – we’d gladly document the above occurrences.

All Grown Up

Camping Bowl-opponent Virginia Tech is coached by local high school legend Justin Fuente, who scorned Mike Gundy and the Cowboys for their Bedlam rivals.

“He was a good player, and when he came out, there weren’t very many throwing quarterbacks in the state at that time,” Gundy said. “My brother was a thrower, and Fuente was the next guy that showed up who was really a thrower. We really wanted him, but it didn’t work out for us.”

Fuente instead was sold on the pitch Howard Schnellenberger was making in Norman.

“It was an odd time in the history of both of those two schools,” Fuente said. “(Schnellenberger) was gonna throw the ball at the University of Oklahoma, really for the first time ever, which obviously didn’t work out too well. But that was the route I chose to go.” [NewsOK]

The Tone’ Jones era could have been cut short! Maybe coordinator Les Miles and tight end Alonzo Mayes could have given Fuente a better shot at Big 12 football.

OSU and NCAA Notes

How the Big 12 Championship game would have looked from 2011-2016….The AAC and the Gulf Coast offense….Arguments (mostly against) the Big 12 Championship Game….Gus scorns the hometown team – staying at Auburn….Deception at Ole Miss was high

You have to think this attitude is coming to Cowboy football at some point, right?

This reminds us why we enjoy college basketball.

If a Cam McGriff dunk happens in front of a sparsely attended non-conference crowd, did it really happen?

Not sure how the Big 12 will fare with this slate but 80 percent going is really good.

Kyle (other than his name and being a tremendous journalist) would fit right in around here.

Thoroughly enjoyed this as an Adams-aholic.
