Scores
Baseball: Texas Tech 8, Cowboys 7
Three Thoughts
• Early tomorrow afternoon, the Cowboys will take on Eastern Washington to further their season – one of the hallmarks of Mike Boynton teams have been fighting when the stakes weren’t the highest. Competing for the “best of the rest” would be more support for that belief. (PFB)
• It’s unbelievable that Jacie Hoyt has been able to bring about so much improvement with ten new players on the roster (TulsaWorld)
• Tough day at the NCAA Championships for the Cowboys – a historically bad day for the Pokes. Daton Fix and Dustin Plott still have things to wrestle for today.
There’s really no way to sugarcoat it, but this was a historically bad NCAA tournament for OSU so far. 16th is the worst they’ve finished as a program at the NCAA tournament, and the Cowboys are flirting with worse where they currently stand in 19th at the end of Day 2.
[PFB]
When you think about OSU dominating a sport, golf, and wrestling are the conversation over the last 20 years. Oklahoma State doesn’t win titles (like it did) in golf because of the transition from stroke play to match play.
In wrestling, it appears the field has not only caught up to the Pokes, but programs are getting way out in front of the Pokes.
Two Quotes
• John Smith is taking it slow with his commitment to keeping coaching – “taking it one year at a time.”
“Right now, I’m so fired up about this tournament. If I look out a half-year or a year from now, I see myself at Oklahoma State.”
However, he added, “you do think about the process a little more as you get older.”
[TulsaWorld]
• This is really nice – when OSU Basketball wraps up in the next week or two, we’ll be right in spring football and the baseball/softball enjoyment of the spring too.
One Question
• Which would be more fun – winning a national championship in wrestling, golf, softball, or baseball?
(My answer – is softball. To see OU lose and OSU win at something they’re so proud of would be that much sweeter.)
Most Viewed of the Week
