Any Volunteers?
Mike Gundy is being mentioned on lists of (hypothetical) candidates for the job at Tennessee.
With the firing of Butch Jones at Tennessee on Sunday, the program that was in heavy talks with Gundy in December 2012 is again in need of a new coach.
The Knoxville News Sentinel published a story on Sunday looking at 15 potential Tennessee candidates “from (Jon) Gruden to Gundy.”
An OSU-style offense in the SEC would be a new look, and Gundy was willing to take a look at the Volunteers last time around. Tennessee seemed to come closer to anyone to luring Gundy away from OSU before he turned them down.
But Gundy is in a better situation now than he was then. [NewsOK]
It feels totally different than 2012 now – what can you leverage that offer for now? Plus while he used to be stressed over how he was received, he’s clearly not that concerned anymore.

Anchors Away
Iowa State threw everything – as many times as they could – against the Pokes on Saturday, despite the run being the strength of their offense.
It was another tough afternoon for the OSU secondary. A week after a Bedlam blitzkrieg, the Cowboys allowed 386 passing yards despite quarterback turned linebacker Joel Lanning throwing a pass and backup turned starter Kyle Kempt giving way to freshman Zeb Noland.
Iowa State actually threw the ball 47 times times, 16 more than pass-happy OSU. [NewsOK]
It felt awful K-State-ish when a third team quarterback had a day against the Pokes but it went poorly for the Cyclones when it mattered most.
OSU and NCAA Notes
Neat story about how former Cowboy Calvin Miller is shaping lives….Butch Jones fired at Tennessee, told a recruit to ditch UT and follow him….ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla does a great job explaining the college basketball landscape….Profile of OSU commit Jason Taylor II and his late father is touching

Justice has been unreal.
Justice Hill is RB1 and Saquon Barkley is RB2. He has been arguably better than what many call the best back in CFB. #OKState https://t.co/UP0QeJAP9J

Mason as a role model has been underrated.
.@CowboyFB’s Mason Rudolph:
"Whether it’s at practice or a game, in our weekly Bible study, in class, or around the community of Stillwater, I’m going to stand for who I am and for my faith.”
