With a little less than a month before signing day, the Cowboys picked up a commitment Wednesday night from a recent in-state offer.

Carl Albert linebacker Carl’Veon Young announced via X that he had committed to Oklahoma State. Listed at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, Young announced he picked up an offer from the Cowboys’ staff on Oct. 26. It was his first offer.

Young’s Carl Albert Titans are 9-0 this season and have given up just 19 points all year. That’s 2.1 points a game with seven shutouts. According to MaxPreps, Young has made 44 tackles thus far as a senior, including two sacks and eight tackles for loss. He’s also intercepted a pass and has a forced fumble.

With OSU being the first program to offer Young, he isn’t on the major recruiting services’ radar quite yet and doesn’t have a ranking. It wasn’t all that long ago, however, that the Cowboys got a little-known defender from Carl Albert. In the 2018 class, OSU picked up safety Jason Taylor II. Taylor’s only other offers when he committed were to Memphis and Tulsa. See the 2021 Texas game as to how that turned out for the Cowboys.

The Pokes’ 2025 class has fluctuated in recent weeks with a few decommitments. Young makes 15 pledges in a class that ranks 63rd nationally and 14th in the Big 12, according to 247Sports.
