Oklahoma State Ranked No. 11 in AP Poll Heading into Bedlam Week

Oklahoma State won a sloppy game that involved 87 points scored, with defense. Baker Mayfield dispatched his former team in Norman and is at home now sifting through mustache designs on Pinterest.

We were this close to having just the third-ever top 10 Bedlam matchup and second in the last three years. There was plenty of shakeup around the country and in the Big 12 as well.

Let’s take a look at the polls.

One week after upset Saturday, college football’s landscape settled back to the norm. Only three teams moved more than three spots and the top six went virtually unchanged in both polls.

Who Jumped up?

Iowa State got the biggest bump from 25 to 14 in the AP poll after beating No. 4 TCU 14-7 at home. Ohio State climbed from No. 6 back to No. 3 after its narrow win over No. 2 Penn State. Nothing like a little more bulletin board material for the Fighting Bakers, right?

Who dropped off?

Penn State fell from No. 2 to No. 7 after a narrow 39-38 defeat at the hands of Ohio State. TCU only dropped to 10th after its loss to the Cyclones, effectively edging OSU out of the top 10.

Conference Outlook

Watch out, but Iowa State might have a football team. Now with two top-5 upsets on the year (Oklahoma and TCU), the Cyclones plopped their weird bird thing/rotational storm butt into the driver’s seat for road trip to the Big 12 title game in Arlington. If ISU wins out they’re in. If there’s a tie for one of the top two spots, it owns tiebreakers over the both the Sooners and the Frogs.

With the upcoming Bedlam game for more than just in-state bragging rights, the Big 12 title race will continue to take shape.
