Top 10 Comments of the Week: Backup the Brinks Truck, NIT Attendance Records, & Dax Hill’s Decision

One of the highlights of my week is getting to do the Top 10 Comments of the Week. It’s fun to read all of your interactions and compile the list of the most liked comments for you. Hope you enjoy this week’s edition.

1. Monday & Wednesday Nights’ Crowds Set NIT Attendance Records

BA: The crowd was fantastic. Especially for a 6:00 Monday night NIT game on spring break.

There 9,600 on hand in GIA when OSU took down Standford, then topped that with 10,000+ only a few days later. It was great seeing Ghallagher full and rowdy. Looking forward to many more nights like these when next season rolls around.

2. Should Justice Hill attempt to Sway His Little Brother’s Decision

RyanO: If Dax doesn’t come here, literally ANYWHERE would be better than going to ou. I know Justice said he wasn’t going to get in the middle of his decision, but I think now, more than ever, he should be pushing for his younger brother to come to Stillwater.

I have three brothers and I’d give anything to have been able to play ball with them in high school. I can’t imagine what it would be like to lace them up together in college. That said; I hope Dax makes the best decision for him. Looks like he’s got the talent to play pro ball and if OSU doesn’t give him the best opportunity to get there than he should go somewhere else. But I agree Ryan PLEASE don’t let that be OU.

3. What’s Better: an NIT Run or an Early NCAA Exit

Clint: “WIN” the NIT – key word…WIN. End a season winning a national tournament is much better psychologically than, say, getting beat by…I don’t know – Rhode Island – in the 1st afternoon of The Dance, in my opinion.
Really, getting to this point seems better to me than a day one loss in the NCAAs!

Winning the NIT would have been big but you want to make it to the Big Dance, that’s what it’s all about. This NIT run has been so much fun and I can feel the momentum from it, but who’s to say OSU wouldn’t be in a similar position if it actually got a shot in the real tournament? Even going one-and-done in the first round I think that’s similar momentum Boynton could build on.

4. The Foundation is Laid

Josh: Very good Article. I was proud of the fans last night and I have been proud of this team since January. I think we have a hell of a coach and we will only improve as he grows in the position. He’s really easy to like because he is genuine and he loves his job. I hope he’s here for a few years at least and I believe he will be successful.

I hope he’s here for a long time! Coach Boynton has been a great fit and the fanbase is really starting to rally behind him. I’m excited for Cowboy basketball.

5. USC Upstate NOT a Prison Team

Winning Comment: Well I googled it and found that USC Upstate is indeed a public university in South Carolina, and NOT a prison team which Burt Reynolds may or may not have competed against in a younger life. Sounds like a nice addition… although adding someone with a rap sheet could really help our street cred.

One of my favorite comments from this week. Winning Comment usually makes me laugh out loud as I did here. You all must enjoy them too because they’ve been a Comments of the Week regular!

6. About That…

The Tuba Geek: GO STATE! BEAT WKU!

Ugh. I’m still so mad OSU lost to that silly, silly mascot.

7. Putting out the “Rowdy” Bat Signal

Patrick, Orlando: Fans, please show up and give this team (and coaches) the respect they deserve in this final home game. There should be no excuse not to sell this bad boy out!!!

It wasn’t a sellout, but I couldn’t be more proud of the fans for showing up on Spring Break and making GIA crazy. I know many fans returned to Stillwater for the first time in a long time and left eager for the future.

8. More on NIT Run vs. Early NCAA Exit

jls2osu: For me, it may vary by season….but for this group of seniors who have had 3 different coaches in their OSU tenure, I’m just happy to see them still getting to play. They’ve been put the ringer and would love to see them win an NIT championship to wrap up their OSU careers.

I agree with this point. An NCAA Tournament invitation was deserving for this team, but it was really cool to see them compete a few more times at home in GIA. I’m glad they could close out their careers with a few more rowdy games under their belts.

9. ?HOT TAKE CENTRAL?

Chris Saxon: It would actually benefit OSU if you and your team would never report on recruiting.

Kyle Boone: The hottest of takes!

Glenn Spencer would disagree with this take, Chris. Around the 3:00 mark of the first video if you need a refresher.

10. Backup the Brinks Truck to Boynton’s Front Door

PonchoPete: Pay Boynton already

Gundy Forever: The announcement is that he inked an extension…one can only hope

Holder’s biggest job this offseason is to sign Mike Boynton to an extension. It doesn’t need to be 10 years, but lock him up for a few years and see what he can do!

Honorable Mention

Found on the article about Mike Tomlin taking a few Cowboys to dinner:

Guest: The real question is where did they go to dinner? The only really nice place in Stillwater is Rancher’s Club, but Tomlin doesn’t strike me as a fancy restaurant kind of guy.

This should probably be a Poll Question in the coming weeks. What’s the best restaurant to eat at in Stillwater? What is the criteria? Let me know what you think.
