Three Thoughts
Because we all need to watch this video of Brooklyn Mike riding a horse after this week:
โข If you’re confused about the conference realignment stuff from an OU-OSU perspective, this is the best summary I’ve found:
OU also would be sacrificing a conference affiliation with OSU. The Sooners, I assume, would feel bad about that, though not bad enough not to go, if the money said so.

Given that these conversations have been going on for six months-plus – I don’t think politics will slow them down.
โข Outside of Texas going independent (a la Notre Dame) and OSU going SEC with OU (doubtful), this is the most intriguing angle I’ve seen yet.
Is OSU up to something else?
ACC: There is mutual interest here and discussions are moving at a fast pace. The most likely scenario would see OSU and fellow Big 12 school West Virginia joining the ACC, moving it to 16. The one potential hurdle is that Notre Dame surely would be asked again to become a full member of the ACC (they are currently football Independent). As they have always done, it seems most likely the Irish would opt to stay that way. If they happened to change their mind, then it would come down to WVU versus OSU. How that decision-making process might go is anyone’s guess.
The Mountaineers are certainly a better fit geographically. OSU football draws more viewers nationally and generally offers better programs across the board.

Note: a report came out yesterday that TCU, Baylor, and Tech had reached out to the PAC-12 – OSU was not included on that report.
โข The PAC-12 has been the warm blanket to come back to when you worry about OSU being left out of power leagues (after theirs’ falls apart), this seems to be a true statement about OSU’s candidacy out west:
Of all the schools listed as possibilities for the Pac 12, OSU seems like the most likely one to get an invitation, but on an island in the central time zone, it may lack the oomph to justify the addition.
That is, Oklahoma Stateโs biggest drawback may be its cohorts. If the Pac 12 doesnโt want the others, there may not be much point in adding OSU alone.

โข A little weekend fun fact:
One Question
โข Would you rather OSU be a part of…
four sixteen-team super conferences or a major realigning of college football?
