Jacksonville Transfer Michael Marsh, 6-foot-11 Big Man, Commits to OSU Hoops
OSU adds its second player out of the portal.
It’s not often in the modern world someone sneakily posts a commitment, but that happened with Oklahoma State.
Michael Marsh committed to OSU on Wednesday via his Instagram, but the news didn’t make its way to the media until Thursday. A 6-foot-11, 240-pound forward, Marsh played the past two seasons at Jacksonville, averaging 10.5 points and 4.9 rebounds a game last season while shooting 56% from the field.
“We are excited to welcome Mike Marsh to Cowboy Basketball,” OSU coach Mike Boynton said in OSU’s release. “Mike brings a physical interior presence that can immediately impact next year’s team. … His experience will add great value to our group. His ability to score in the post and defend with physicality will be welcomed.”
Marsh was listed as a redshirt junior for the Dolphins during the 2022-23 season. He played at Dodge City Community College in Kansas as a sophomore after spending his freshman season at USC Salkehatchie. He likely has one year of eligibility left.
This fills a void in the paint for the Pokes after big men Kalib Boone, Moussa Cisse and Tyreek Smith all entered the transfer portal this offseason. Marsh will come in alongside McDonald’s All-American freshman Brandon Garrison in Oklahoma State’s front court.
Marsh scored in double figures 14 times this past season, playing in only 22 games. He put up a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double against Johnson. He also put up 15 points against Duke in Jacksonville’s season opener. Jacksonville went 13-16 in 2022-23.
With Marsh’s addition, OSU coach Mike Boynton has three scholarships left to give this offseason, though he might use only two more to finish off the program’s NCAA sanctions.
Marsh joins East Carolina transfer point guard Javon Small as transfers to join the Cowboys this offseason. Next season’s OSU team will have a new look to it with Boone, Cisse, Smith, Woody Newton, Avery Anderson and Chris Harris all joining the transfer portal this offseason. OSU also has five incoming freshmen in Garrison, Eric Dailey Jr., Justin McBride, Jamyron Keller and Connor Dow.
