• Recruiting rankings to be darned, this would be the best thing about 2020 forward JT Thor committing to the Pokes.

A defense with a 6-6 point guard (Cade Cunningham), a pick-pocketer in (Isaac) Likekele and (Yor Anei and JT Thor) down low would be a tough out for most teams. [PFB]

That defense would be absolutely incredible. And then when you want to catch your breath, here comes Avery Anderson and Kalib Boone off of the bench. Good luck scoring 50 points against that unit.

• This is fun – the Canadian high school player of the year and the US high school player of the year are both playing for OSU this winter

• This detail on the NCAA’s ruling to give spring seniors an extra year of eligibility doesn’t seem ideal… but is likely the only way to do it.

Here’s what (NCAA council chair and Penn athletic director M. Grace Calhoun) means by flexibility — schools won’t be required to give the same level of financial aid to seniors who decide to return for an extra year. Schools may choose to match the aid those seniors were receiving this year, but they may also give less.

The NCAA is letting schools decide if they want to honor an extra year of eligibility with any economic assistance and not counting these bonus players against scholarship numbers.
