OSU Bullets

• Riddle me this – is it more of a win or a loss for OSU to play Michigan this fall?

Selling (playing Michigan to) Mike Gundy and Co. might be different. Getting Michigan to Stillwater would be great exposure for the Cowboys, but the game almost surely would be played without fans. That lessens the marketing boost for OSU. And playing Michigan is a far greater risk for a defeat than playing Oregon State. [NewsOK]

Put differently: if there are no fans, the benefit of selling more tickets and playing a premium opponent at home is minimized… but the risk of putting another L on the record is increased.

Also – it might feel nice to beat the team that signed Dax Hill.

• The 2011 OSU defense was highlighted for a quality that might surprise – giving up nearly 25 points a game.

The resume won’t blow anyone away at first blush, they gave up 26.7 ppg in B12 play, but they were in the B12 South in a year with Landry Jones, Ryan Tannehill, Collin Klein, James Franklin, Seth Doege, and Heisman-winner RG3. They won at A&M with a second half comeback (one of many against General Sherman’s final march), at Missouri 45-24, and smashed Baylor 59-24 by stopping the run and picking off RG3 twice. [Concerning Sports]

They only allowed 26.7 (4th in the Big 12) against some of the best the Big 12 has seen – Jones, Tannehill, and RG3 all went on to professional careers while Klein won the league the next year.

Two fun recruiting moves by the Pokes: Boynton’s squad has reached out to the Georgetown guard who lit up GIA and football offered a blue-chip freshman QB from Los Angeles

• This is fun – the O’Colly ranks all of OSU’s uniforms. Also – Sign me up for the black helmets – Can I get thin orange or white stripes down the middle?

• The Oklahoman chatted with OU coaches about what it’s like to actually be at home with their families – and it was mildly depressing

• While we’re talking Big 12 bluebloods, this Texas-trolling tweet was pretty good:
