Four-Star Defensive Back Ka’Davion Dotson Puts OSU in Top 5, Announces Commitment Date

The Cowboys have a stellar haul of defensive backs in their 2024 class, but it could get even better.

Ka’Davion Dotson, a four-star prospect from Duncanville, Texas, announced his Top 5 on Tuesday: Oklahoma State, LSU, SMU, TCU and Texas. Dotson is a four-star prospect listed as the No. 357 player in the 2024 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Dotson will announce his college decision at 4 p.m. Sunday on the Rivals YouTube channel.

To get this far, OSU has beaten out the likes of Oklahoma, Florida State, Florida, Miami, Oregon, USC and others programs that offered Dotson but didn’t make his top group. Recruiting analysts are split in where they predict Dotson to land, but SMU and LSU appear to be the favorites at this point. Across 247Sports and Rivals, four analysts have predicted he ends up at LSU, but more recently, two analysts have predicted SMU to land Dotson. But the latest among all of those predictions came a month ago.

Duncanville went 15-0 in Dotson’s junior season, winning a Texas 6A-DI state title. Listed at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, Dotson primarily played safety as a high school junior, but when Oklahoma State offered Dotson all the way back in 2021, Dotson mentioned OSU cornerback coach Tim Duffie in his offer announcement.

Oklahoma State has three defensive backs committed in its 2024 class — all safeties in Landyn Cleveland, Willie Nelson and David Kabongo. The Cowboys have 13 commits in their class with the most recent being defensive lineman Luke Webb. Among OSU’s 13 commits, eight are defenders. The Cowboys’ class ranks 53rd nationally and seventh in the Big 12.
