Grading the Uniforms: Week 7 Vs. Texas

Published

on

Oklahoma State came out in a tri-color look against Texas. Although we have seen the combo once before in the new uniform templates, against Kansas State last year, I thought this was a good combo to wear against the Longhorns for OSU’s fifth-straight win in Austin.

Chrome Pete is back. Cardiac is back. The Pokes are now 7-2 in this helmet (2-1 vs. Texas) after defeating the Longhorns on Saturday. It’s a good helmet to tout America’s Brightest Orange, and it looks best when paired with black.

I really like the chrome stripe paired with the chrome facemask, but I am surprised that we haven’t seen any variation on this helmet other than adding the paisley to the back bumper. We have seen the black stripe with chrome borders on other helmets. I wonder if it will ever make its way onto this helmet paired with a black facemask. Time will tell; the equipment managers will not.

I like this look against Texas. We saw O/W/B back in 2015 when the jersey had orange numbers, but I believe this combo looks better with black numbers.
Orange – White – Black is alright as a tri-color combo, but it’s not my favorite. It is without a doubt the best tri-color combination when the orange lid is worn.

Overall: B+
