The 10 Best Stats from OSU’s Rout of Boise State

Well, that was supposed to be closer than it was.

Oklahoma State whipped Boise State 44-21 Saturday night in Boone Pickens Stadium. Here are the 10 best stats from that game.

7: OSU sacked Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien seven times Saturday. That’s tied for the third most in a game in school history.

Jordan Brailford: I know that isn’t necessarily a number, but Brailford had three sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and six total tackles. That’s terrifying.

0: OSU didn’t turn the ball over once Saturday. It was the first game this season the Cowboys didn’t have a turnover. The Broncos brought their Turnover Throne to Stillwater, but it is awaiting a king.

23: With two blocked punts Saturday, OSU has blocked 23 kicks since the start of the 2013 season. That ranks first nationally during that span.

30: With a fumble recovery on the Broncos final possession, the Cowboys have forced a turnover in 30 straight games and 39 of their last 40. The Pokes forced four fumbles before recovering one with 43 seconds left.

40: Jalen McCleskey is up to 40 games in his career with at least one catch. He’s played in 42. Saturday, he had three catches for 26 yards.

34: OSU held the Broncos to 34 rushing yards on 31 attempts. A lot of this had to do with the seven sacks the Cowboys had, but regardless, it’s the fewest amount of rushing yards the Cowboys have given up since Kansas ran for only 30 yards against them in 2015.

17: With three makes Saturday, Matt Ammendola has made his past 17 field goals and is 6-for-6 this season. Ammendola hit from 22, 48 and 23 yards against the Broncos.

18: The Cowboys have won 18 in a row when leading at the half. The Pokes scored 17 points in the second quarter to take a 17-7 lead into the break.

15: Mike Gundy has said he wants to keep Justice Hill to 15 carries a game on average. Saturday he hit 15 exactly. In those 15 carries, Hill had 123 yards (8.2 yards a carry) and a touchdown. Hill has averaged 11.3 carries a game through the Cowboys opening three, but he has four rushing touchdowns and has averaged about 92 yards a game.
