Daily Bullets (Jan. 14): Sanders Details Reported, Optimism Going Into Baylor
Thanks for stopping by – here’s your daily dose of Oklahoma State sports news.
The Pokes take on Baylor in Waco tonight at 5pm (CST), beat the Bears.
Three Thoughts
โข Incredibly fascinating interview that Robert Allen did (see it here on YouTube) – clarity on the Spencer Sanders situation, Gundy’s philosophy on the portal, and tidbits around Derek Mason situation. Speaking of Derek Mason, Tatum Bell has a terrific idea for his replacement.
โข This is a bummer – a guy who committed to OSU in the transfer portal flipped to a Big Ten school. Really need another running back now.
โข While Mike Boynton’s Pokes have lost some close ones and open league play at 1-3, they’ve been here before.
Things can turn around. Three seasons ago, OSU opened Big 12 play with losses of 85-50 at Tech, 55-41 to West Virginia and 52-40 at Texas Christian.
But that OSU team rallied to finish 18-14 overall, won its final four games, averaged 68 points a game after that horrid start and was at least in the NCAA Tournament conversation.

โข Looking forward to seeing this ace in the spring.
One Question
โข Would you believe if you were told Mike Boynton appears to have signed his highest-rated recruiting class yet?

On American pessimism being overplayed:
The first problem with all this pessimism is that it is ahistorical. Every era in American history has faced its own massive challenges, and in every era, the air has been thick with gloomy jeremiads warning of catastrophe and decline. Pick any decade in the history of this country, and you will find roiling turmoil.
