The Cowboys have thrown their hat in the ring in trying to pull a Memphis commit out of Memphis.

Joshua Lane, Class of 2027, announced an Oklahoma State offer this week. A 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive lineman, Lane committed to his hometown Memphis Tigers in June and also has offers to USF, Ole Miss and others.

Lane preps at Memphis Central. His high school team is off to a 3-0 start in 2026. In that stretch, Lane has made 15 tackles, five tackle for loss and a pair of sacks. That came after a junior season in which Lane made 69 tackles.

Lane is a three-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite system, which lists him as the No. 1,833 player in the 2027 class and a Top 70 player from Tennessee. ESPN lists Lane as the No. 50 player in Tennessee.

The Cowboys have a dozen players committed in their 2027 class. One is an edge rusher in Baton Rouge Catholic standout Jayden Vessell. A few weeks ago, the Cowboys also offered 2027 edge rusher Nasir Braxton (Decatur, Georgia), and OSU has recently extended offers to junior college edge rushers LaDarius Jemes and Eddie Robinson.

OSU’s class ranks 14th in the Big 12, but a lot of that has to do with the class’ size, as OSU, Arizona State and Baylor are tied for the fewest commitments with a dozen apiece, while schools like Kansas State (27 commits), West Virginia (24), Iowa State (24), Colorado (20) and Utah (20) occupy the top half of the standings.
