I believe the disconnect is at least in part because for all the success under Gundy, the Cowboys have never reached a BCS championship game, like Oregon did, or a College Football Playoff, like Michigan State or even Cincinnati…

But there’s a golden opportunity sitting there for Gundy once Oklahoma and Texas leave. Assuming the CFP does expand to 12 teams in 2026, someone from the Big 12 not named Oklahoma is going to get in, possibly every year. Oklahoma State is as well positioned as any to become that team…
