Getting to the League

Lenzy Pipkins joined a handful of recent Cowboys on NFL rosters and apparently playing at Oklahoma State played a large part in that.

He ran a 4.4 in the 40, started using his man-to-man basketball skills as a cover guy, and it “went from there.” He landed at Louisiana-Monroe, transferred as a graduate to Oklahoma State for his last year of collegiate eligibility, and showed enough in one season in the Big 12 to attract some NFL attention.

Pipkins isn’t sure he’d have gotten a shot in the pros without the one year of FBS competition. Appearing in 13 games in a major, pass-happy conference and intercepting a ball in a game at TCU got him on the radar.

“Once they saw I could play in that conference, it was a changed story,” Pipkins said. [Packers.com]

Taking the same path that Michael Hunter and Tyler Patmon did before him, the detour through Stillwater was well worth it.

Riding a Hot Streak

While Rudolph holds one of college football’s longest streaks of passes without an interception, his numbers over the last 15 games have been fantastic.

Still, for the chances he takes down field, his numbers are staggering. In his past 15 games, Rudolph has thrown for 4,697 yards (313.1 yards per game), 31 touchdowns and only four picks.

Two of those interceptions came in the same game, at Kansas State.

The four interceptions came on passes that traveled 48, 15, 37 and 5 yards, so only two can be considered a product of taking a chance deep. [TulsaWorld]

It’s unbelievable to think of those numbers and more difficult to think of a more ideal quarterback for OSU’s offense.

OSU and NCAA Notes

SI still has the Pokes in the top five of their power rankings ….2007 Troy game does not equal 2017 South Alabama game (hopefully)….Good breakdown of what position AP voters had the Pokes in their poll….”Sources” are pointing to massive change in NCAA transfer policy

Just two more days.

Good to hear what’s going on with Jawun.

This is a fun idea.

Would have laughed at you two years ago if you told me OSU would have the best running back in the Big 12.

22 year-old rookie? Looks like a 30 year old vet.
