Kansas State Recap: What You Missed on PFB Over the Weekend

Highlights from a weekend with far too few of them.

I know it hasn’t exactly been a joyful browsing experience, but we’ve been cranking out post-KSU material throughout the weekend. I rounded up some of our best #content for the masochists among you who want to see what’s going on.

• Mike Gundy isn’t considering a QB change | But maybe he should

• Best of social media always crushes. One of our top posts from over the weekend.

• 10 thoughts on the loss, one of the worst I’ve ever covered | And some final notes and thoughts here

• Great stat from Marshall Scott here in his notebook.

With OSU’s 70 penalty yards against K-State, the Cowboys have given up 514 yards in penalties through their opening seven games. In all of last season, OSU gave up 592. [PFB]

• Why OSU punted on 4th down on Saturday.

• Jackson, as always, took some awesome photos in Manhattan on Saturday.

• Gundy had some interesting things to say on Saturday: On his players | Why he’s not alarmed | Entire presser | Notes on the presser

• Suffice it to say, we covered his presser better than OSU has covered anyone this year (except for Boise St.)

• Marshall Scott hands out grades. Corndog gets a C-

Less than a 50 percent completion percentage, no passing touchdowns and two interceptions just isn’t going to do it.

With that said I’m not convinced it was all on Cornelius, as he didn’t get much help from a running game, as Cornelius was OSU’s leading rusher with 55 yards and OSU’s only touchdown. So that’s why he narrowly avoided D/F range for me. Still, though, something has to change whether that be at quarterback or the schemes surrounding him. [PFB]

• Kyle Boone’s travel blog was fantastic (how does Part 2 not have a comment?!): Part 1 | Part 2

• OSU’s players were a lot more upset about the loss than Gundy seemed to be, which is probably to be expected.

• Eight things that frustrated me about Saturday.

• Love this from Boone on what he saw on the field.

Maybe Gundy’s mullet chop could’ve boosted morale (I doubt it), or maybe Dru or Spencer Sanders playing meaningful snaps could have altered the outlook (it’s possible), but whatever the case, something needs to change. Because on a day in which Skylar Thompson looked like Tua Tagovailoa at times, and on a day in which a taxidermied bobcat is a regular sight on a sideline, the weirdest sight Saturday was seeing a no-good Oklahoma State team, in a game it was favored and expected to win, fold its cards without putting up a fight. [PFB]

• Carson and I did a postgame show. I believe that’s our most-watched video of 2018 if you were curious how angry everyone was on Saturday.
