Another player has decommitted from the Cowboys’ 2025 recruiting class.

This time it was Waco linebacker Donovan Jones. He joins defensive lineman Jordan Covington and tight end Isaiah Butler-Tanner as prospects who have backed off their Oklahoma State pledges in recent weeks. Jones is the No. 661 player in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2025 class. As well as his offer to OSU, Jones had offers to Baylor, TCU, Houston and others.

“I would like to start by thanking the coaching staff at Oklahoma State for everything they have done for me,” Jones wrote on X. “I would especially like to thank Coach Gundy for everything and for giving me such an incredible opportunity. With that being said, I would like to announced that I have decommitted from Oklahoma State University.”

OSU was the first program to offer Jones, doing so last October. He’s listed at 6-foot, 202 pounds and plays his high school ball at Midway in Waco.

With the decommitment, OSU is down to 14 pledges in its 2025 class. The class ranks 62nd nationally and 13th in the Big 12. Those numbers can be skewed by the number of commits. OSU’s per player average ranks eighth in the Big 12.

The Cowboys still have a linebacker committed in the class in Wichita defender Kyle Keya. The Cowboys also recently offered Carl Albert linebacker Carl’Veon Young, becoming the first program to offer Young.
