Rickie and Alex Noren are the Pokes to watch over the Pond this weekend in the British Open.

• Pokes land another Bixby players
• Gundy’s pumped about 2019
• Matt Holliday joins the staff in Stillwater

OSU Bullets
• Most Viewed of the Week (No. 1): Bixby Defensive Back Commits to the Pokes

When you sign up a 5’7″, 160-pound defensive back, you’re essentially focusing on getting athletes on campus. I’m intrigued by what position they want Brennan Presley to play – that size wouldn’t cause a second glance if he’s looking at the inside receiver position but turns some heads at the cornerback spot.

You do see some undersized guys playing slot defender – that seems like a good spot for a speedster like Presley.

• Most Viewed of the Week (No. 2): Gundy’s Renewed Zest for Coaching in 2019

The analogy I love here were his comments about the third child and the different environment “the baby” grows up in. I’m too busy multiplying all my first child mistakes on my twins (probably feeding them donuts while you’re reading this) but it makes sense. Parents wear out and they understand what battles are necessary to pick, right?

An underrated aspect of this situation is that the 2018 team was full of solid players but not a lot of vocal personalities. Soundbites of Justice Hill or Taylor Cornelius were chocked full of questions but not a lot of answers – they’re quieter guys.

While it’s understandable for the coach to take the blame, I think a good chunk of it lies in the mutes driving the bus between the lines as well.

• Most Viewed of the Week (No. 3): Matt Holliday Joins the Cowboy Baseball Staff

The biggest question I had here was how much an all-star on staff weighs. By all means – bringing a recent all-star with a World Series ring to help coach in a brand new stadium will only enhance your return on investment. And that could mean the world and I’m way off base but in a sport where loads of guys get to the pros (at least drafted), I didn’t know if it weighs as much as if you got Dez Bryant to come coach receivers.

In no way am I downplaying how cool it is to have the other Holliday brother on staff – it’s awesome. I just wanted to properly weight the advantage.

• Most Viewed of the Week (No. 4): Gundy Open to a Two-QB System to Start the Season

This doesn’t seem like it’s exclusively gamesmanship with Mike Gundy just holding onto his cards until he can’t – it seems like a legit battle (in his mind). To anybody who cares about Cowboy Football in 2020 and beyond, it seems pretty cut-and-dry to me – play your stud and let him figure it out for the last four games of the year so he can hit the ground running for this year and beyond.

• Most Viewed of the Week (No. 5): What Brennan Presley’s Commitment Means

Boone clarifies my questions from the first article – Presley appears to be recruited as a receiver first and foremost. But the video from the post showing Presley jumping a route seemed like shades of Darrent Williams, right?

Non-OSU Bullets

• Pretty cool map of the U.S. with roads lit up

• The college that became a prison

• This Blazers’ sophomore sounds like the ceiling for the Thunder with their Darius Bazely pick – both took a gap year and pretty unpolished.

I’m often touting Cal Newport’s thoughts on social media – here’s a 15-minute TED Talk if you prefer videos. My disclaimer is if you’re a person who can practice moderation (specifically with social media), you’re probably just fine to skip the below.
