Bullets Rundown

• What-if Gundy went… to OU?
• Spring football in Stillwater to a new level
• Boynton’s Brooklyn boy would be great

Three Observations

• I’m really enjoying this Oklahoman series on what-ifs and this one on which Bedlam school Mike Gundy would end up with was fun.

What if (Troy) Aikman had quarterbacked OU the entire 1985 season – and caused Mike Gundy to sign with OU. [NewsOK]

Of course, this would have meant an upperclassman (Aikman) instead of a freshman (Holieway) is starting in Norman and Gundy sees a chance to take over in a couple of years.

• The idea of a split-college football season is fascinating – and this second half for the Cowboys would be fantastic.

Feb. 20 — Oklahoma (Norman)
Feb. 27 — Texas Tech (Stillwater)
Mar. 6 — Baylor (Waco)
Mar. 13 — West Virginia (Stillwater)
Mar. 20 — Kansas State (Manhattan)
Mar. 27 — Texas (Stillwater) [PFB]

BONUS: Mason Rudolph is spending his quarantine time with a recent contestant from one of TV’s more popular shows… The Bachelor

• There’s just something fun about a Brooklyn point guard (potentially) playing in Stillwater someday. As long as you’ve got a stomach for the thousand times you’d hear about it on tv broadcasts.

Two Quotes

• It seems prudent to at least prepare for the concept that (some?) sports won’t be played this year – the country’s top infectious diseases expert warns us.

“Safety, for the players and for the fans, trumps everything,” (Dr. Anthony) Fauci said. “If you can’t guarantee safety, then unfortunately you’re going to have to bite the bullet and say, ‘We may have to go without this sport for this season.'” [CBS Sports]

Either way, the NCAA has a couple of different plans in place to ease back in.

• “Nothing like a fall Saturday in Stillwater!”

One Question

• Isn’t it the most Oklahoma State-thing that a pandemic happens before the biggest football/basketball seasons in a while?

Most Viewed of the Week

• No. 1: Some Cowboys signed as undrafted FAs after the draft
• No. 2: Cowboys received a running back commitment
• No. 3: Bullets from Last Sunday – post-NFL Draft
• No. 4: Gundy offered a touted-2022 QB
• No. 5: Cowboys are taking some big swings on the trail, will they pay off?

Non-OSU Bullets

• I can get behind this Nordic concept of “hygge” – or coziness
The NYT review of this WWII read by Erik Larson was good

• There was something really peaceful watching this ten-minute video of a modern-day shepherd doing his job
